The short explanation of this alert was:

Soon, the Senate is expected to consider the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007 (S 5), which would commit federal dollars to lifesaving science by reversing a 2001 policy, announced by President Bush, restricting embryonic stem cell research. This legislation which has strong bipartisan support passed both the House and Senate last year but was vetoed by the President. Researchers believe that embryonic stem cells have broad healing capabilities for an array of debilitating diseases. For example, stem cells may be able to reverse muscle damage incurred from a heart attack by generating new muscle cells; or, they may be able to replace the specialized dopamine producing brain cells in a patient with Parkinson's disease. Funding for this research could lead the way to cures for these and other devastating conditions. Earlier this year the House again passed the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.
