However, the advocacy of millions of Americans who support this legislation has not gone unnoticed. In fact, a majority of House members backed the SCHIP proposal -- falling only 12 votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed. Since the vote, leaders in the House have reiterated their commitment to passing a bill this year that covers 10 million children.
