Protect Access to Abortion Care in Health Reform

Congressional leadership has begun negotiations to merge the House- and Senate-passed health reform bills. In order for the legislation to become law, significant differences between the two versions, including the language on access to abortion, must be resolved. Unfortunately, both the House- and Senate-passed proposals included language on abortion that goes far beyond current law and will result in millions of women losing access to abortion care. This language must be changed to ensure that no woman loses access to this basic health care service.
