The short explanation of this alert was:

In too many schools, students receive incomplete, medically inaccurate sex education that focuses solely on abstinence and provides no information about safe sex. Currently there is no dedicated federal funding stream for comprehensive sex education. There are, however, three separate federal funding streams for abstinence-only-until-marriage programs. To date, the federal government has allocated more than $1.3 billion for these ineffective, dangerous programs. Now, the president has an opportunity to take an important step toward ending this abstinence-only approach, by eliminating abstinence-only funding and including at least $50 million directed to fund comprehensive sex education.
