The short explanation of this alert was:
Throughout the 2008 election, candidates from every state and every party spoke about our country's broken immigration system and the need for reform. Now, eight months after taking office, elected officials have taken few steps to enact comprehensive, humane immigration reform -- reform that restores the rule of law, encourages a path to citizenship for more people, unites families, and guarantees the fair treatment of workers. If members of Congress don't hear from their constituents that immigration reform is still a priority, nothing will change.
