IconUrge Senators to Support the International Violence Against Women Act

On October 31, Sens. Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Richard Lugar (R-IN) introduced the International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA), groundbreaking legislation that would, for the first time, integrate US efforts to end gender-based violence into American foreign aid programs. I-VAWA (S 2279) would make ending violence against women a diplomatic priority for the United States and create the first high-level position in the US Department of State to coordinate efforts to combat violence against women. It would also make sure that the US is able to develop emergency measures in a timely fashion to respond to critical outbreaks of violence against women around the world.
