The short explanation of this alert was:

After 9:00 PM on March 2, the Senate was finally able to pass a short-term extension of the unemployment insurance (UI) and COBRA health benefits that expired on February 28. Until then, one Senator, Jim Bunning (R-KY), was able to stall Senate action, putting more than 200,000 long-term unemployed people at risk of losing benefits. While the Senate was ultimately able to rectify this potential catastrophe, it is in danger of happening again unless UI and COBRA benefit programs are extending through the end of 2010.
