Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit the NCJW Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: On November 13, President Bush vetoed the Fiscal Year 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education spending bill, a bill that allows for modest growth for programs such as child care, community health centers, K-12 education, mental health and substance abuse services, family and community services, and Pell grants for college students. The legislation will now go back to Congress where they will attempt to override the veto to ensure that critical human needs programs receive the resources necessary to serve this country's poorest people. A two-thirds majority is required to pass a bill over a presidential veto. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
