Speak Out Today for Children

On February 1, 2010, President Obama released his budget proposal for the coming fiscal year, outlining what he thinks the federal government should spend on everything from child care to national defense. This year, the President's budget made some critically important investments in early childhood education by providing additional funding for child care, Head Start, and child nutrition. But, a commitment from the President is only the first step. If more working families are to gain access to child care assistance, early education programs like Head Start and Early Head Start, and nutritious meals for their kids, Congress must include this funding in the budget they pass later this year.
