Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit the NCJW Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: On October 3, President Bush vetoed a bipartisan compromise bill renewing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). This highly successful program provides comprehensive, affordable health insurance to more than six million children who would otherwise be uninsured. After months of debate in Congress, members of both the House and Senate produced a bipartisan compromise bill that would extend SCHIP coverage to 10 million children. On October 18, the House of Representatives will vote on whether or not to override this veto. A two-thirds majority is required. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
