This highly successful program provides comprehensive, affordable health insurance to more than six million children who would otherwise be uninsured. After months of debate in Congress, members of both the House and Senate produced a bipartisan compromise bill that would extend SCHIP coverage to 10 million children. On October 18, the House of Representatives will vote on whether or not to override this veto. A two-thirds majority is required.
