The short explanation of this alert was:

In the final days of the Missouri legislative session, members of the state assembly will be debating the Show-Me Health Coverage Plan (SB 306), legislation that could provide health care to Missouri's most vulnerable citizens. However, if this legislation is to be effective in covering low-income families, a number of crucial provisions must be included. Specifically, SB 306: must take advantage of the Medicaid State Plan Amendment to cover families under 100 percent of the federal poverty level; define eligibility based on income (not including financial resources that come from child support, disability benefits, unemployment insurance, etc.); must not rely on Health Savings Accounts for families with incomes under 100 percent of the federal poverty level; and must not include time limits for health insurance coverage. Without these provisions, the most vulnerable families will continue to go without health insurance.
